St. Paul’s United Church
Our Mission: Glorifying God through Worship, Proclaiming the Gospel of Christ and Serving Others in Christ’s name.
From the desk of Rev. Michelle…
When have you had to start anew? We all have had experiences of having to begin again and start something new. Some new beginnings are fairly easy, such as starting a new school year or taking up a new recreation activity. Others are more earth shanking like losing your job, facing an illness that left you on your back, moving to a new city where you didn’t know anyone, adjusting to an empty nest, or the death of your lifelong partner. The one thing that all these experiences have in common is that they require adjustment and an openness to venture into uncharted territory.
As I come back to work after my sabbatical time away, I am glad to be starting anew with you this fall. The last 3 months have changed us all to some degree, now is the time to reconnect. While away, I was exploring the foundations of thriving churches and learning more about moving congregations to greater health. I also spent time rejuvenating my own body and soul. I also spent much time in deep discernment, listening for God’s direction. As we reconnect, I will be sharing in worship, through eNews, and in small groups, some of the insights.
This Sunday we start a program year, I hope that you will join us as we return to our regular worshiping schedule, meeting in our sanctuary at 10:30. It is our first chance to come together and share the gift that is each of us. We will offer a blessing for new beginnings – and after service, share in a special treat. I am looking forward to seeing you.
Let us pray,
Divine partner, as we start this new program year,
as we head into the fall season,
guide us with your wisdom.
Now is the time,
to lay down what is not working,
to listen for your word of life that echoes in our hearts,
and play in your Spirit winds.
In the beginning, you created,
shaping us in your image,
breathing your life into our bodies.
Recreate us, loving God, so that we may find ourselves in your garden yet again.
Amen.
