St. Paul’s United Church

Our Mission: Glorifying God through Worship, Proclaiming the Gospel of Christ and Serving Others in Christ’s name.

From the desk of the Treasurer…

Dear St Paul’s Friends:

You will recall that at our annual meeting, we adopted a “Narrative Budget” presented by Alanna Palmer and approved by the Board. The Budget set out all the things we want and need to do, and predicted what the 2023 income would be based on known revenue (i.e. housing) and history (i.e. regular contributions). There was a shortfall of $36,600.00 in our budget and we all agreed that we could cover that shortfall through a variety of efforts: targeted contributions to our committees and missions; fundraising activities; sourcing new rentals to increase the building revenues etc.

Heading into the summer, we are at a $26,000 shortfall out of that $36K. Which is no reason to panic but does suggest that entirely relaxing over the summer when it comes to support for St. Paul’s ministry may require a frenzy of activity in the fall to make up for lost time. And nobody likes a frenzy!

Your Board has approved an easy way for you to make sure that St. Paul’s has the funds to do all the great work we have said we want to do in 2023.

#1.  Make sure your regular contributions continue over the summer even if you are travelling or at the cottage. You can do this through PAR, by postdated cheques, e-Transfer to stpaulsoffice224@gmail.com or through the online option at CanadaHelps: https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/90413

#2.  For the next 3 months, we would like to highlight certain committees within the Church that generally require “extra” attention:

In June, please think about the Property Committee,

In July – The Pantry,

In August, when it can be very warm, consider the Boiler!

In the Bulletin each month, a special envelope will be inserted, giving you an opportunity to contribute to the target committee. Or send a donation to the office designating it for the “cause of the month”.

The life and work of St. Paul’s is ongoing. Thank you for all you do and I look forward to giving you an update in September.

Jane

Treasurer

Thank You!!

The volunteers from the Pantry and Brown Bag Lunch programs would like to extend a huge THANK YOU! for your continued generosity to these very important community outreach programs. So far this year, the Pantry has served 102 families: 24 single women, 35 single men, 11 couples, 7 single parents, 25 families and 119 children. The Brown Bag Lunch program has disbursed 299 lunches to 76 individuals. Without your donations, both monetary and in-kind, we would not be able to meet the increasing demand for these programs by those in need. Please continue to help with food security issues in our community and keep this program open.

St. Paul’s Summer Fundraising

Over the summer months, we hope that St. Paul’s will be close to your heart, even if you are away traveling or enjoying some cottage time. For the next 3 months, we would like to highlight certain committees within the Church that generally require “extra” attention. In June, please think about the Property Committee, in July – The Pantry, and in August, when it can be very warm, consider the Boiler! In the Bulletin each month, a special envelope will be inserted, giving you an opportunity to contribute to that committee. The life and work of St. Paul’s is ongoing. We hope you will remain an important part of the Church Family.

Back-To-School Backpacks

St. Paul’s serves many school aged children and youth through our church outreach programs. Required items include: back packs, lunch kits, reusable water bottles, lined paper, coil note books, large zippered binders, dividers, pencil case, markers, pens, pencils, scissors, glue, rulers, math set, etc. If you would like to donate items to support these families, please reach out to Meghan in the church office. Items can be dropped off to the office Monday through Friday between 8am and 3pm. A donation tax receipt will be issued for items with a receipt. Cash donations are also welcomed. Collection will take place from now until August 11th and then distributed mid-August. If you know of someone in need of school supplies, please let Meghan know so they can be added to the list.
