Back To School Backpacks
St. Paul’s serves many school aged children and youth through our church and outreach programs. We will be collecting donations of school supplies in an effort to provide for those who can’t otherwise purchase these necessities. Items may include: back packs, lunch kits, reusable water bottles, lined paper, note books, binders, pencil case, markers, pens, pencils, scissors, glue, rulers, hand sanitizer, Kleenex, etc. If you would like to donate items to support these families, please reach out to Meghan in the church office. Items can be dropped off to the office Monday through Friday between 8am and 3pm. A donation tax receipt can be issued for items with a receipt of $20.00 or more in value. Cash donations are also accepted. Collection will take place from now until August 19th and then distributed. If you know of someone in need of school supplies, please let Meghan know so they can be added to the list.
Do You Have A Bed To Donate?
A person whom regularly attends our community outreach programs is in dire need of a double bed. If you have a bed frame, box spring or mattress to donate, it would be greatly appreciated. The individual lives in close proximity to the church. Please contact Meghan if you have or know of someone who could help this member of our community.

Healthy Seniors Pilot Project
The Centre for Innovation and Research in Aging (CIRA) is looking for research participants for their most recent research project, titled: Proactive Care for Persons with Dementia: Using In-Home Passive Sensors to Reduce Caregiver Stress and Promote Aging in Place. This project is funded by the Healthy Seniors Pilot Project. The goal of this project is to reduce feelings of stress and burden for caregivers and to enable individuals experiencing memory loss or living with ADRD (Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias) to more safely and comfortably live in their home and community.
We are seeking participants who meet the following criteria:
- A caregiver of an adult aged 65 or older who is experiencing memory loss.
- Older adult with memory loss is currently living in the community in New Brunswick (i.e., in their own home, caregiver’s home, home of another individual in the community, or in an assisted living facility).
- Access to the internet within the older adult’s home.
- Access to either a smartphone, tablet or computer by the informal caregiver.
As a caregiver participating in this research study, you will meet with a research coordinator to collect demographic information about you and the older adult you are caring for, as well as to learn about your experiences and well-being as a caregiver. If you choose to participate, you will be provided with PassiveAware sensor technology and simple instructions on how to install the sensors on specific objects in the older adult’s home in order to help monitor activities in their activities of daily living. This monitoring system is connected to a website and Smartphone App that can be downloaded onto a caregiver’s device, which will allow for the caregiver to check on their loved one by checking which activities of daily living they have completed that day, as well as the temperature and humidity in the home.
The PassiveAware sensors are barely noticeable and nonintrusive. We hope that the ability to passively monitor specific activities and the conditions in the home will help reduce feelings of caregiver stress and worry, instill a sense of peace of mind, and also empower informal caregivers to allocate their care resources in a specific, personalized, and more efficient-manner. Upon completion of the 6-month commitment to the research study, participants will each receive a $25 grocery gift card ($50 total).
Potential participants can inquire about this research study by reaching out to the following research coordinators:
