When have you seen God in action in your life? Sometimes we think that only the large things count – the remarkable healing, a turn of fortune at the right time, the burning bush experiences. However, it is much more common for God to be working in everyday, small ways like the friend who calls when you are feeling overwhelmed, the $20 that shows up in your pocket when you were wondering how you were going to pay for something, the change in perspective that taking a moment in prayer provides so you can see challenges in a new way or the unexpected presence that reminds you God is Good.

The other question I have is where is God calling you to give of yourself? When we serve, we become a blessing to others. Today, I am thankful to those who have declared that God has spoken to their heart and have named that they will accept a nomination to serve on the board for the next year, among them are Barbra Cull-Wilby and Debbie Allison. I also continue to pray that each of us listen to where God is urging us to be part of the church. Paul used the metaphor of the body to talk about the faith community, because we need all the parts of the body working to be a full and complete witness to Christ! My hope is that we as a community of faith make all our service into a joy and meaningful work – even sitting on the board and committees. Will you help me make this a reality and put your name forward for the board or one of our various committees? If yes, please contact Jane Blakely or myself (Rev. Michelle) today!

In the meantime, and with the news of today let us pray,

God of all, we pray this day for the people of Ukraine,
We pray for the soldiers who are being deployed and for their families.
It breaks our heart when we humans choose war over peace,
Hate over love, Division over unity, destruction over creation.
Let your Spirit rise up and touch us this day,
that in our small corner of the world
we may shine forth your goodness and model your way.
This we pray in Christ’s name.  Amen.
