5.     Our annual meeting will take place on March 28th at 1:00 p.m. by Zoom. The Annual Report, Agenda, financial statements & Draft budget also Zoom Invitation are available here http://www.stpaulsunited.ca/annual-meeting-information/

We contemplated an in-person meeting this year but it’s still too soon for many of our members to attend public functions, and a “hybrid” meeting (in person and online) is tricky to run and often unsatisfactory for all involved. Hopefully a year from now we can gather for the next annual meeting. We should have cake!

Looking forward to seeing everyone virtually!
Jane on behalf of the Board

6.     Preaching this week is Bill Randall

8.     St. Paul’s Community of Faith Committee Letter to Congregation

Greetings St. Paul’s friends!

The Community Of Faith Committee is looking forward to speaking with you by phone, by Teams, or by a mail in survey. The choice is yours, and we are interested in hearing what you have to say in any way that you chose.

We have prepared questions that we believe will get to the heart of who we believe we are as friends and members of St. Paul’s United Church. For those of you who are comfortable using applications such as Teams or Zoom, simply let us know by responding to this email using this address derrick6g@gmail.com and put Teams in the subject line of your email. Once we have a list of the people interested, we will send out an invitation to you which will have a date and time.

For those of you who wish to respond to the questions by written response, put ‘written survey’ in the subject line and we will either email a questionnaire to you or send you a paper copy for you to write on and deliver it back to us.

For those of you who wish to speak by phone, simply respond to this email using this address derrick6g@gmail.com and put ‘phone’ in the subject line. Please include your phone number as well as the best time to call, and we will have one of our committee members reach out to you.

Once we have collected the survey information, we will put a summary of the answers together for the Board, and eventually it will be available to you. The goal of this exercise is for us all to get a better understanding of both who we are, as well as what we think we should be doing.

Please respond to this email using this address derrick6g@gmail.com and don’t forget to put your communication preference in the subject line. We look forward to hearing from you!

Derrick Grant, on behalf of Roger Miller, Erin Hayes, Janis Violette, Blaine Irving and Ann Krause

11.    Climate Church, Climate World Invitation to an online book study While we’ve been focused on the global pandemic for almost exactly a year now, the urgency of working on climate change has not diminished.  We should be putting as much effort into stopping that as we are into stopping the pandemic.
Climate change is more than a science issue, it’s a spiritual and moral issue too.  Our churches have an important role to play.  While we tend to shy away from discussions of climate in polite society, that is something that author Jim Antal is calling us to change. Join this discussion group to learn more about how to lead or support your community of faith in engaging to make a difference for future generations.
We will talk about ways to engage with this big, scary topic, and how we can take meaningful action – in our social circles, in our workplaces, in our families, and especially in our places of worship.
To get a taste of the type of information and hope that you will encounter in the book, take a listen to Jim Antal interviewed by Laura Hunter, Minister for Justice and Mission at the United Church of Canada on her podcast “Making Hope Visible”
REGISTER NOW to participate.
https://zoom.us/meeting/register/tJUqf-mqrDMuEtMPfeXiSUSLOR7YqhMWEFaD.  Space is limited.
Here are some places you can get Climate Church, Climate World by Jim Antal (prices vary).  Make sure to order yours in time to start the study:
Paperback – Chapters or your local bookstore
Audiobook – Google Play or Amazon (Audible)
Ebook – Kobo or Vital Source
The book study will take place via Zoom on Wednesdays April 7 to May 19, from 11:30 to 1:00pm.  Feel free to bring your lunch.  This initiative is Sponsored by the Anglican Diocesan Environment Network (DEN) of the Diocese of NS and PEI and St. Mary’s Anglican Church in Fredericton, NB.  All are welcome (this is not an Anglicans-only gathering).
