This week the Psalm open in praise of God, asking for nothing, but offering adoration.
Let us take these words into our hearts, even as we seek to encounter God in prayer.
Psalm 66:
Make a joyful noise to God, all the earth;
sing the glory of his name;
give to him glorious praise.
Say to God, ‘How awesome are your deeds!
Because of your great power, your enemies cringe before you.
All the earth worships you;
they sing praises to you,
sing praises to your name.’
Amazing God, even as we praise you for the gift of creation, we pray for your healing hand to rest upon it.
In our joy we raise our voices in your glorious name, and yet so many are silenced because of their faith. Remind us – your children – to embrace one another, not to dilute our faith for the sake of common ground, but rather to celebrate what makes us different, how you have made us different.
In so many ways the people of this world come to know the power of your love. For us, we see it most clearly in our brother Christ. Encourage us to share the experience of our faith journey, and to seek to know more fully our neighbours. In doing so, we come ever closer to knowing you.
In your name we offer praise and prayer. Hear us this day, and send your Holy Spirit to move in us, that we might carry out your loving action. AMEN
Yours in Christ,
Rev. Richard
