Today we held a celebration for the life of Bill mcNamara. It was a service filled with music and memories, a testament to the fact that this man will not soon be forgotten.

Also part of the service was the story of the Prodigal Son and the the Psalm below. Both teach us of the abiding and eternal nature of God’s love and forgiveness. Not weariness, nor waywardness, nor even death itself can keep God’s love from embracing us, from welcoming us home.

Let us hear the words of the Psalm and seek the assurance of God’s ever-open arms.

Let us pray

Psalm 121

I lift up my eyes to the hills—from where will my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.

He will not let your foot be moved; he who keeps you will not slumber. He who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.

Holy God,
Remember us in the darkest days of our lives. Be the light on our path.
Remember us when we feel lost. Call us back.
Remember us in those times when we seek forgiveness. Welcome us home.
In our lives when we are wayward and weary, remind us that you are always with us, that your forgiveness is eternal and you love abiding.
In the name of our companion Christ we pray. AMEN

Blessings,
Rev. Richard
