For many, life feels like a constant battle, an uphill climb. It is in those moments that we often turn to the one we trust most and ask, “where are you?” Yet in that trust we know that the answer is that God is ever present.
Let us pray for that trust to flourish.
Psalm 13:
How long, O Lord? Will you forget me for ever? How long will you hide your face from me? How long must I bear pain in my soul, and have sorrow in my heart all day long? How long shall my enemy be exalted over me?
Consider and answer me, O Lord my God! Give light to my eyes, or I will sleep the sleep of death, and my enemy will say, ‘I have prevailed’; my foes will rejoice because I am shaken.
But I trusted in your steadfast love; my heart shall rejoice in your salvation. I will sing to the Lord, because he has dealt bountifully with me.
Shepherding God, as we make our way through our lives, often days that have become routine, we call to you to strengthen and to guide. We pray that when darkness falls upon us, you give us light. We pray that when we are lost, you are there waiting to show us the way.
Hear our prayer of thanksgiving for the hope and the truth that lives within that trust. We call to you in thanks because even when we cry out in despair, we do so knowing that you are there to embrace us.
Move in and through us in this day that we might be your hands and feet. May we greet warmly those who feel forgotten, share the burdens of those laid low with troubles, bring light to those surrounded by darkness.
See the seed of trust – trust in you – that is planted deep within us. Nurture it and help it to flourish. We ask this in the name of one who trusted you unto death and beyond to new life. AMEN
