Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Happy 185th Anniversary!

This Sunday, November 26th at 10:30 a.m. we are celebrating 185 years of worshipping God and serving the community as the people of St. Paul’s. During the service we will hear many stories. Some of these stories come from those who are directly affected by the ministry and service that St. Paul’s offers. We will also take a moment in the midst of the service to acknowledge the last 10 years and some of those who have served this community, whether through ministry or membership, and who have gone on to God’s eternal embrace. As a special treat, our guest speaker is Dr. Bill Randall, a professor at St. Thomas University and one who has formerly served right here at St. Paul’s United Church.

A service of celebration just isn’t enough however, and so we invite you to come early to take in some old favourites as we have our second Sing-a-Long. This begins at 10:10, so bring your voices and share in the singing of some familiar songs and hymns. Following the service we will be having our last pot luck of the year in Fraser Memorial Hall. All are encouraged to join in this fellowship meal as we mark the occasion with – you guessed it – a cake! We hope to see you this Sunday.

Also happening downtown this weekend is the Open House and Craft Sale at the New Brunswick School of Craft and Design on Queen St. A few weeks ago one of our members, Kennedy MacIsaac let us know that from Friday, November 24th to Sunday November 26th, students will be showing and selling their work. The times are Friday 12-6, Saturday 10-6, and Sunday 10-4.

Looking into next week, we have our weekly gatherings of our Women’s group on Monday evening, Senior’s group on Tuesday morning, and Men’s group on Wednesday evening. If you are or know a youth, our youth group will also be having another gathering the evening of Friday, December 1st.

Please remember to return your gifts from the Children’s Wish Tree on or before December 3rd. If you have any questions or need help finding your special gift, please contact Carrie Phillips at 459-8586 or email Carrie at carrieph74@gmail.com

Because the season of Advent is quickly approaching, we also want to give you a heads up about what is on the calendar in the weeks to come. December 6th is a full day with the first of two Advent recitals taking place over the lunch hour. If you can’t make it, or just want to listen to more music, we hope you will join us for the Advent Carol Festival happening that night on the 6th at 7:30 pm. There will be an offering taken up with the proceeds going to CBC Feed-a Family. The next week is just as exciting with the second recital happening on December 13th over the lunch hour followed by a reception for the launch of Sharon Pond’s CD of Organ Christmas music. Later in the week on the 15th at 7 pm Tim Yerxa will be reading ‘Twas the Night before Christmas and there will be musical offerings from Vocal Collective.

With all that is coming, we hope that you are safe and warm as the nights get longer and colder. May God bless and keep you as we are brought together in celebration and praise.

Yours in Christ,

Rev. Richard & Rev. Michelle
