Hello Sisters and Brothers in Christ,
Last week in the bulletin the stewardship insert asked you to consider how you use your time, this week will ask you to explore how you use your talents. Did you know that there are numerous ways that you can serve God through our church committees and that at the annual meeting we will be adopting a nominating report prepared by Derrick and Ann that looks to fill some positions. So as you reflect this week, I wonder if God is calling you to give of your talents in serving the church. Our board, which sets direction for the congregation and is the decision making body of the church is looking for three new members, the fledgling stewardship task group which will eventually set up terms of reference for the committee is looking for additional members to support the work and holistic vision of stewardship as “everything we do after we say I believe”, Ministry and Personal could use a couple of additional people, and worship is always looking for people who are passionate about what we do on Sunday and beyond. Between now and our congregational meeting on the 18th we ask you to take some time to pray about where Christ is calling you to serve in his name.
Our very busy UCW will be having the casserole sale this Saturday from 10am-12pm. Get to the church early so you will not be disappointed, these delicious meals go fast.
Also mark your calendar for Tuesday of next week is the Shrove Tuesday Pancake supper and flip off. This year Rev. Michelle and Rev. Richard will go head to head, don’t miss the flipping action! Also this will kick off an intergenerational Lenten opportunity of coloring the psalms. When talking about the Psalms did you know Rev. Richard has been producing a praying the psalms reflection with is posted on our Facebook page weekly?
Do you have a child or grandchild in grade 2-7? Are you in Fredericton the week of July 16-20? If you answered yes to these two questions then I have the summer camp experience for you! This year the Go Kids Project (like in the song Go Make a Difference https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WDjQEoItGzQ) is coming to Fredericton. This day camp provides lived experiences for kids to make a difference in the name of Christ while still having traditional camp features such as wide games, crafts, songs and “campfire” time. This amazing summer camp will only cost $100 for the week and includes lunch!. Rev. Michelle can provide details about registration. Space is limited don’t miss out on this faith building camp.
This Sunday is Transfiguration Sunday, the last Sunday before Lent! We will be having seated communion as we gain substance for the Lenten journey ahead. This week we will hear John 9:1-41, the story of a man born blind that Jesus heals and the controversy that this causes in the community. How true is it that when God does a new thing in our lives, it causes controversy and struggle for those around us who struggle to see what God is doing and how often when we look at God at work in others we see through our own lenses and miss the point. Come celebrate the way God seeks to change our vision to see the holy light.
God of light and love, come into our lives again in a blaze of glory. Allow the light that initially blinds us to penetrate our souls, that we may experience your grace deeply and are transformed by your light. In your light of love fill us that we may be prepared to go into the world in your name, loving, reconciling and restoring in Christ’s name. Amen
Yours in Christ
Rev. Michelle and Rev. Richard
