Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
We hope that you had a very Merry Christmas day, despite the cold and stormy weather that made an appearance Christmas Morning. Did you know that Christmas isn’t over – within the church there are 12 days of Christmas which ends on January 6th with Epiphany? Observing these days creates an opportunity to reflect on what the Incarnation means in our own lives today. So if you are thinking of packing up all your decorations, Stop! For Christmas has only begun. Also don’t be surprised by the Christmas carols this Sunday.
It has been a quiet week in the office and church in general as most of our programs and renters have been away for the holidays. Next week is looking like it will be no different. AA has continued to meet at their regular time but that is about it. Most of our programs do not restart until the week of January 7th.
This Sunday is a joint Sunday Service with Wilmot, here at St. Paul’s. In the new year we will now switch from hearing stories from the Hebrew scriptures (old testament) and start in the Greek scriptures (new testament) starting with Gospels, moving to early church and epistle, in a more or less chronological order. This Sunday we hear a scripture which we often hear in Advent, John 1:19-34, where we meet John crying out in the wilderness.
Our finance committee would like to remind you again that this Sunday Dec 31st is the last day for 2017 tax receipts. We are still a little under budget so they would like to encourage those who are able to consider making a donation and taking advantage of the tax break for this year’s taxes.
Blessings on this week as we prepare and welcome the new year,
Rev. Michelle and Rev. Richard
