St. Paul’s United Church
Our Mission: Glorifying God through Worship, Proclaiming the Gospel of Christ and Serving Others in Christ’s name.
From the desk of Rev. Michelle…
A gentle reminder that the clocks go back this Saturday night!!! Don’t forget to change your clock before going to bed or you could miss our AMAZING anniversary service!
I want to say a big thank you to everyone who has filled in and kept things moving while I was out with COVID. The pulling together, taking on new challenges and general willingness to keep the boat moving has been a great relief to myself. While I know I will miss a few people, I wanted to specifically acknowledge Chris Grant who led the service on short notice on September 16th, she did such a wonderful job. On the worship side, thank you Debbie Allison who helped us ensure that the technology for Sunday was up and running so that we could all see the PowerPoint slides and our Zoom participants could worship and Roger who has continued to arrange our volunteers. A big thank you is also needed for Meghan and the 190 Committee who have done countless things in the last weeks to ensure that we made it to this weekend’s celebration with our ducks in a row.
I also want to express gratitude everyone who has reached out to offer support and to those who have held my family in prayer. I am glad to report that Mike and the kids are doing great. While I have had a soft return to work this week, I continue to experience fatigue. I appreciate your ongoing prayers as I continue to recover.
As we move into the weekend, we have arrived at our anniversary Sunday. This is a time for us to celebrate, to give thanks and to reaffirm our commitment to spreading God’s light and love into the future. I hope that you will join us in person for the service, and for the fellowship time afterwards. As we move towards this weekend let us pray.
Loving God,
Years ago you planted a seed that grew into this congregation,
You watered it with you love, enlivened it with your Spirit,
We are the fruits of that seed.
Yet at the same time we are also new seeds,
ready to grow as we listen to your wisdom and discern your way.
Ripe with potential and poised to grow in a new direction.
Be with us as we till the soil of what has been and water the hope of what will be.
This we pray in Christ’s name
Amen.

FundScrip Orders Due this Sunday!
FundScrip – We’ll have two gift card orders before Christmas, November 6 and December 4. Many retailers have increased the value of their donations to St. Paul’s during November and December. Whether ordering cards for your everyday needs or as Christmas gifts, please consider purchasing cards from Boston Pizza, Giant Tiger, Home Sense/Winners/Marshalls, Shell and the Ultimate Dining Card (good for Swiss Chalet, Harvey’s East Side Mario’s, Montana’s). Order forms are available in the office and the Narthex or by clicking here Nov-6th-FundScrip-Order-Form.pdf If you are not yet a FundScrip shopper and would like more information about the program, Carole Peacock will be happy to answer your questions. Remember: Shopping is fundraising for St. Paul’s!
Christmas Angel Tree
The tree made its début in the sanctuary this past Sunday and Santa’s helpers wasted no time choosing their angels and sharing the joy of Christmas with a child. There are still lots of angels available, many asking for gift cards . . . what an easy way to make a child’s wish come true! The tree will remain in the sanctuary next Sunday; please check it out when you come for the Anniversary Service. Or, if you prefer, you can come to the church during the week and make your selection. Please fill out a card (on the table next to the tree) with your name and angel number so we know which angel you took. You can take your gift to the church office anytime or bring it on Sunday and place it under the tree. Gifts must be received by November 15. If you need help shopping or would like to have your gift picked up, please call Carole Peacock at 452-1016.
Bible Study
Bible Study will be resuming this week! Join Rev. Michelle Wednesday at 11:15 as we dive into Micah 1:3-5; 5:2-5a; 6:6-8. Join in person or via zoom https://us02web.zoom.us/j/88619319967. Passcode is 259190.
Mincemeat Available for Sale
The UCW will be selling mincemeat for $15.00 for 500 ml (2 cups). Order sheet is posted on the Bulletin Board or contact Donna Chauvin 458-5885.
